For the image and vision course of MSc. Media Technology, we were introduced in automated editing, a technique of automated film editing based on a specific feature of the video. Automated editing captures only the frames of the video that have this particular feature. It can be anything; faces, movement, colour. I created a patch in Max/ MSP and Jitter that was able to track color red from the movie “Don’t look now” (1973), a movie famous for its red colour. The patch can only do color tracking in a video of specific length. You can download it here. The video below shows the result of the automated video editing patch.
