I was born in Athens, Greece in 1981. I have studied Mass Media and Communication (BA.) in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (2000-2004). I continued studying Media Technology (MSc.) in Leiden University, the Netherlands, which is a Masters Programme focusing on relations between Computer Science, Technology, New Media and Art (2007-2010). From February 2011 till September 2013 I worked as a Research Associate at Lancaster University for the Computing and Communications Department. The project was on affective interfaces and it is part of DESIRE, an initial training network funded by the European Comission, framework 7 under Marie Curie Programme.
Currently I am working towards starting my own company, Academous, which is going to be an online platform that will help University Researchers and Phd students to find participants for their experiments and online surveys.
I have worked for local newspapers in Athens and for local TV stations in Piraeus as a reporter. I also worked as a course assistant for the Hardware and Physical Computing course of my Master Program, Media Tecnology (March 2009-May 2009). I am fortunate to have worked in six Olympic Games so far; I have worked as a Commentary Control Unit Operator\ Installer during the Olympic Games hjld in Athens (2004), Beijing (2008) and Vancouver (2010) and in Sochi (2014). I have worked as a SWAT team Coordinator before the London Olympic Games, pulling, terminating and testing commentary and CATV cables for different Olympic Venues while during Games time I worked as a CCU Installer\ Operator at the Aquatics Centre. Finally during the last Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, I was a SWAT team leader, managing a team of 3, who were responsible for pulling, terminating and testing commentary and CATV circuits and communication fibres. Also in 2014 and during the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow I was appointed CCR manager for the Judo\ Wrestling venue and I was managing a commentary team of 4 people who were responsible for the smooth commentary transmission in that venue.
I am interested in everything -well… almost everything- that combines creativity, new media and technology and I like travelling, photography, meeting people, nature and doing some sports. I can speak Greek, English and German in advanced level, Dutch in a moderate level and Chinese in beginner’s level.
